[Senior] Professional Stylist
ABOUT : SARAH’S WORK
What would you like people to know about your work? I am firmly grounded in the basics of hair cutting and color theory and I fall back on my original training and keep it in mind when I am doing everything, even the most the current trends. I find it keeps me fully in touch with everything that I do and provides a solid backbone for my process. That along with my clients wishes and their own specific needs leads to great results!
Why did you want to be a hair stylist? I can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t notice hair…on everyone. I have always spent a bit too much time “re-doing'” everyone’s hair in my mind even as a kid, and it was always my favorite accessory. It only seemed natural that I should be doing it as a professional.
Where did you go to school? Bellflower Adult School of Cosmetology
What are your specialties? I honestly love creating the best version of any style that my clients want, but I strive to find what will work the best for them in their everyday life and not just when they leave that salon. I really strive to find shapes and color that bring out a clients features even if that means just refining an existing style. I love love low lighting in every shade for depth. I also have a real passion for vintage hair from almost any era but can’t get enough of Jacky-O bubble flips, Hitchcock blonde French twists, and B-52’s beehives.
What do you love most about being a stylist? As an artist I really enjoy the transformation of shape, color, and shine. But when I have a visit with clients the real benefit we get is through the communication and connection that happens throughout the visit. When my clients leave feeling great and not just looking great is really what makes my carreer fulfilling.
What inspires you / What influences your style? Balance and texture within a haircut that fits the clients features, head shape, and natural texture. when it comes to color I love dimension, contrast, and shine whether on brunettes, redheads, and blondes. I love to see color that resembles the way hair would naturally highlight from the sun but intensified and turned up a notch.
Favorite Hair Style & Hair Products? I love classic bobs, pixie cuts, long 70’s fringe, and shags. On men I love a longer layered cut.I think every product line has something great to offer, however I really like working with waxes and good old fashioned aerosol hair spray over. A-line bobs, i feel like it’s a good, classic cut that has a lot of versatility. And I low-key love doing mullets. For products, Red Chair’s “Max Overdrive” is the most versatile product I’ve ever used, it has hold, separation, and it’s flexibility, It can be used for just about every texture. Red Chair’s “Coil” tightens curls and doubles as a “leave in” conditioner. Every one could benefit from the light weight Moroccanoil to keep hair healthy and we’ll conditioned.
Anything else you’d like to share with your clients? I’m committed to listening to all of my clients and collaborating with them to find the right style that will fit their individual needs.
